Takeshi’s Castle promises a whole lot of laughter and comedic antics, starting 16 December
Singapore, 13 December 2017 – This December, prepare for madcap antics as COMEDY CENTRAL introduces the iconic comedy game show, Takeshi’s Castle, but with a Thai twist! This Thai remake follows the format of the original Japanese version, where contestants put themselves through outrageous obstacles such as the ‘Sling Swing Fling’ and the ‘Honeycomb Maze’, in order to storm the castle and win the ultimate cash prize. The participants’ tenacity and test of true physical grit will make you laugh till no end!
Takeshi’s Castle will premiere on Saturday, 16 December and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 11.30 AM (WIB/TH) and 12.30 PM (SG/MY/PH/HK/TW).
The concept of the show was devised by Takeshi Kitano, and stars himself as the titular character. Playing the lord of a castle, he fills the grounds with ridiculously wacky, but tough games in an attempt to stop the attacks from his arch nemesis, General Tani. To help him protect the castle, Takeshi has a team of guards who will brave all storms to prevent General Tani’s army from progressing further.
In this version which was shot on location in Thailand, every episode sees over 100 contestants gather in an attempt to march into the castle. The obstacles whittle down the number of contestants with only a remaining few reaching the final battle. In the ultimate showdown, the contestants take on Takeshi in a variety of madcap challenges such as having to break Takeshi’s paper ring or set off his sensor. Players are handsomely rewarded with cash prizes for their effort if they succeed.
Originally broadcasted in Japan from 1986 to 1990, Takeshi’s Castle has proven to be a massive hit with fans worldwide and the program has been aired in numerous markets such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany and India.
