SINGAPORE, 29 JULY 2013 - MTV today announced it will produce a special edition of the music show MTV Sessions to take place at Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena’s Mixing Room & Muse on 15 August featuring Taiwanese Mandopop singer Aska Yang who is set to perform for the first time on MTV. The accomplished singer recently won the Most Popular Male Singer award at the Singapore Entertainment Awards 2013 and is known for hits such as “Onion”, “Dove”, “That Man” and “Because I Am Single”.

Aska Yang took part in the first season of Taiwanese singing competition One Million Star while attending college and was named “Popular King”. Upon his debut, he set several milestones which included releasing his debut album Dove, and holding his first solo concert at Taipei Arena when he was just a newcomer to the music industry. Yang is the only artist to have performed as a guest singer for major awards ceremonies in Taiwan and the Asia Pacific region (Taiwan Golden Melody Awards, Golden Bell Awards, Golden Horse Awards and Asia Pacific Film Festival) within two years. His masculine yet exquisite voice is highly appealing and recognizable to his fans.

Yang’s vocals are rich in emotion and have earned him the title “God of Tearjerker Songs” and nickname “Dove King”. Yang released his sophomore album, Pure in 2011 and his third and latest album First Love on 29th March 2013, both of which are produced by veteran musician Jonathan Lee.

MTV Sessions is a series of music shows that allow music lovers the rare opportunity to watch the latest and upcoming international and regional artists showcase their craft live in an intimate setting. Besides performing their own songs, the artists also get to perform covers and remixes of their favourite songs produced exclusively for MTV. Fans get to learn more about the work and life of these artists who will share their music and personal stories in MTV Sessions which follows a casual and revealing style. MTV has already run six instalments of MTV Sessions in Singapore. MTV Sessions: Shanghai will be filmed live before an audience of 500 people.
