VIACOM INTERNATIONAL MEDIA NETWORKS TO ADD THREE NEW ASIA ORIGINAL COMMISSIONS FOR MTV AND COMEDY CENTRAL

TO DEBUT ITS 1ST ASIA ORIGINAL FOR COMEDY CENTRAL

BALI, 28 APRIL 2016 - Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Asia, a division of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIA, VIAB), today announced it will add three new Asia original commissions for MTV and Comedy Central. In August, it will air its first Asia original for Comedy Central Asia, Comedy Central Presents Stand-up Asia, and two new MTV programs – a music video dance show Ok Danceoke, and a regional artist monthly, MTV ASIA SPOTLIGHT.

“We’re delighted to offer new regional content on MTV and Comedy Central. MTV ASIA SPOTLIGHT will allow us to continue to elevate more Asian artists on a regional platform and grow the awareness and appreciation of Asian music for fans around the region to enjoy,” said Paras Sharma, Senior Vice President of MTV, Comedy Central and Paramount Channel Brands and Digital Media, Asia. “We’re particularly thrilled we’re embarking on our first Asia stand-up in collaboration with LOL Events, which enables us to promote local comedy and place a spotlight on talented comedians from around Asia.”

Comedy Central Presents Stand-up Asia, an eight-part short series for Comedy Central Asia, will be a co-production with comedy entertainment company LOL Events in Malaysia. Each half-hour episode will give audiences the chance to watch stand-up from some of the best comedians in the region. The first Comedy Central Asia original stand-up program will feature over 20 comedians from around Asia such as India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Thailand. Filming for Comedy Central Presents Stand-up Asia will take place in July in front of a live audience at Southeast Asia's biggest comedy club, LOL @ Live House located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. LOL @ Live House, the latest addition to Asia's comedy industry, is a 4,000 square feet comedy club located in Kuala Lumpur's entertainment zone, TREC KL.

“We share Comedy Central Asia’s vision to provide great entertainment and laughter to audiences via comedy and are thrilled to be able to reach new fans who may not be exposed to some of the amazing comedic talents we have in Asia,” said  Rizal Kamal, CEO of LOL Events.

Since the channel was launched in 2012, Comedy Central has become one of the fastest growing brands for VIMN, which is now available 24/7 in 22 Asian markets via 51 providers. Over the last four years, the channel has collaborated with local comedy clubs to develop featurettes, on-air promotions and marketing partnerships.

Both Ok Danceoke and MTV ASIA SPOTLIGHT will be produced for MTV Asia in Singapore. Ok Danceoke, the ‘Karaoke of Dance’, is a music video show that teaches iconic and popular dance steps and moves in an interesting and creative manner.

The weekly half-hour program features dance instructors breaking down the dance steps of popular music videos for viewers to learn in the comfort of their homes. The pilot episode is ready and the show is scheduled to be launched later this year.

The regional MTV ASIA SPOTLIGHT is a monthly series which gives audiences access to the popular and up-and-coming acts from within Asia, showcasing the spotlighted artists’ music videos and other exclusive content. This is scheduled to be launched later this year.
